Taylor’s love interest (and best friend) Jamie was, same as Charlie’s, absolutely swoon worthy. Her chapters weren’t my favorites at the start, but she won me over and, by page 100, I was already as eager to know how her story would unfold and I was Charlie’s. I can’t much speak for the Asperger’s rep, but I’m very familiar with anxiety disorder and it did shape a lot of my experiences. She’s also got social anxiety and Asperger’s, and those are never overlooked factors. Taylor is a girl with a popular tumblr account, a passion for Queen Firestone, the book series that changed her life (we’ve all got one) and a hidden crush on best friend Jamie. Also, her romance is the cutest and her love interest made me swoon. Charlie grows a lot throughout the book, and I was impressed by the way she dealt with certain things and never failed to be assertive when she needed to. I love her excitement over being at SupaCon and how decisive and determined she can be. Charlie is a confident, kind person and her chapters won me over right away. SupaCon is Charlie’s chance to make a splash and get out of Reese’s shadows once and for all, and maybe heal her broken heart along the way. Before that, though, the three of them still have decisions to make and fears to face, and what better place to do that than at one of the biggest nerd conventions in the world, SupaCon (kinda like our SDCC)?Ĭharlie is a youtuber who’s just gotten her big chance at acting with the indie zombie movie The Rising, in which she stars as the romantic lead with the boy who broke her heart, Reese Ryan. Taylor and Charlie are both nerdy and proud, and together with their other BFF Jamie, they have a plan for their lives, which includes leaving their home in Australia for a chance at their dreams in LA. Queens of Geek is told in dual POVs following best friends Taylor and Charlie as they go to the convention of their lives. But when she hears about the Queen Firestone SupaFan Contest, she starts to rethink her rules on playing it safe. And there’s one thing in her life she knows will never change: her friendship with Jamie-no matter how much she may secretly want it to. Her brain is wired differently, making her fear change.

While Charlie dodges questions about her personal life, Taylor starts asking questions about her own.
